Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged graduates of Cavendish University Uganda to look beyond personal success and dedicate their knowledge, talents and opportunities to solving societal problems.
Jonathan, who serves as Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda, made the call while presiding over the institution’s 15th Graduation Ceremony, where he congratulated the Class of 2026 on reaching the significant milestone.
The graduation ceremony was held under the theme, “Graduating Global Talent for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Impact.”
Addressing the graduands, Jonathan challenged them to embrace lives defined by purpose, innovation and service, stressing that education should equip individuals not only to succeed personally but also to contribute meaningfully to their communities and society.
He encouraged the new graduates to become innovators and changemakers capable of identifying challenges and deploying their knowledge and talents to create solutions that can transform communities.
According to the former Nigerian leader, true success should not be measured solely by personal achievements, wealth or professional advancement, but also by the positive difference an individual makes in the lives of others.
He therefore urged the Class of 2026 to pursue a life of impact and leave behind a legacy rooted in purpose, service and positive transformation.
“Ultimately, the measure of a successful life is not only what we achieve for ourselves, but the difference we make in the lives of others,” Jonathan said.
He expressed optimism that the graduates would use the opportunities ahead of them to contribute to their respective societies while demonstrating courage, excellence and a strong commitment to service.
Jonathan also congratulated the Class of 2026 for successfully completing their university education and wished them success as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
“May your journey beyond the university be one of courage, excellence and lasting impact,” he said.
The ceremony marked another milestone for Cavendish University Uganda as the institution celebrated its graduating students and reinforced its commitment to producing graduates prepared for employment, entrepreneurship and meaningful societal impact.
