Tarakirivoice Makes U-Turn, Deletes Berry Negerese Report And Apologises Publicly

By Passman Akpos
Tarakirivoice Newspaper Enterprise hereby publicly retracts and apologises to Hon. Berry Negerese over a publication titled:
“Investigation Alleges Arms-Fuelled Plot Against Bilabiri Community, APC Aspirant Named.”
The publication contained serious allegations linking Hon. Berry Negerese to the alleged movement of firearms and armed men in connection with reported incidents involving Bilabiri community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Following a subsequent review of the material and the circumstances surrounding the publication, Tarakirivoice has deleted the said publication from its platforms and formally retracts the report in its entirety.
We acknowledge that the publication contained grave allegations that could have caused reputational harm to Hon. Berry Negerese, particularly because the claims concerning his alleged involvement in the movement of arms and armed operatives were not independently established by Tarakirivoice before publication.
Although the original report contained caveats stating that the allegations had not been independently verified, Tarakirivoice recognises that the seriousness of the accusations required an even higher standard of verification and corroboration before they could be published.
Tarakirivoice therefore sincerely apologises to Hon. Berry Negerese for the publication and any embarrassment, distress or reputational damage it may have caused him, his family, associates and supporters.
We make it clear to members of the public that the allegations contained in the retracted publication should no longer be relied upon as representing the position or findings of Tarakirivoice.
The publication has been removed, and this notice serves as a formal public retraction.
Tarakirivoice remains committed to responsible journalism, fairness, accuracy, accountability and the principles of giving persons affected by serious allegations a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication.
We regret the error and sincerely apologise to Hon. Berry Negerese.
