“Political Titans Assemble: Nyesom Wike, Dan Osi Orbih and Others Head to Yenagoa for PDP’s Defining Congress”

Leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State are set to gather in Yenagoa this weekend for a major political event that will shape the party’s structure in the state ahead of future elections.
The Bayelsa State Caretaker Working Committee of the PDP, under the leadership of Acting State Chairman Alabh George Turnah, has formally invited party stakeholders, delegates, and members of the public to attend the 2026 Bayelsa State Elective Congress alongside the official commissioning of the party’s new state secretariat in Yenagoa.
The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the new PDP State Secretariat in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
According to the invitation issued by the party’s Acting State Secretary, Alfreder Ebibofayei Ato, the congress is expected to bring together key figures from the national and regional leadership of the party as well as prominent political actors from across the Niger Delta.
Among the top dignitaries expected at the event is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who will attend as Special Guest of Honour. Also expected is the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Amb. Abdulrahman Muhammed, alongside the party’s South-South National Vice Chairman, Dan Osi Orbih.
Party officials say the elective congress will determine new leadership positions within the Bayelsa State chapter of the PDP, a development many observers believe could influence the party’s political direction in the state.
The commissioning of the new secretariat is also being described by party insiders as a symbolic step toward strengthening the PDP’s presence and operational capacity in Bayelsa.
With party faithful, delegates, and political observers expected to attend in large numbers, the event is likely to draw significant attention within the political landscape of the Niger Delta.
