“Road Project Approved!” — Diri Announces Toru-Ebeni–Egbemo-Angalabiri Road At Deputy Speaker’s Mother’s Burial, Declares: “She Produced Bayelsa’s Number Four Citizen!”

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has attended the burial ceremony of Late Madam Nanakumo Korobou Wanzor, mother of the Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Ogbere.

The burial ceremony was held at Egbema-Angalabiri community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state, where family members, political leaders, government officials and community stakeholders gathered to pay their final respects to the deceased.

Madam Wanzor died at the age of 88.

Governor Diri, who expressed condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Egbema-Angalabiri, described the deceased as a woman who lived a fulfilled life and successfully raised her children.

According to the governor, the late matriarch’s legacy was reflected in the achievements of her children, particularly her son, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

«“We have come to extend our condolences to the bereaved family, community and Local Government Area. Our mother lived a fulfilled life. She brought up her children very well. She produced the number four man in Bayelsa State. So today, we have come to honour her and the family,” Diri said.»

The governor also used the occasion to reassure the people of Egbema-Angalabiri of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and development in the area.

Diri disclosed that the state government had already approved the Toru-Ebeni–Egbemo-Angalabiri road, describing the project as part of efforts to improve connectivity and stimulate development in the community.

He urged the people to maintain peace, unity and love, stressing that a harmonious environment would help attract further development.

«“To the people of Egbema-Angalabiri, I want to assure you that your government will continue to prioritize your development and welfare. Our government already approved the Toru-Ebeni–Egbemo-Angalabiri road. Let’s live in unity and love to attract more development to our area,” he added.»

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe; Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Obolo-Bubou; members of the State House of Assembly; Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei; Chairman of the Bayelsa State APC, Hon. Warman Ogoriba; commissioners and other senior government officials.

Also present were the Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area, Hon. Onniye Isaac; 2027 APC Bayelsa West Senatorial candidate, Elder Fidelis Agbiki; community leaders, relatives and other dignitaries.

The gathering combined mourning with a celebration of the life and legacy of Madam Wanzor, as political and community leaders joined the Ogbere family in paying tribute to the late 88-year-old matriarch.
