Trump Blocks Biden’s security and intelligence privileges; says ‘Joe, you’re fired!’

US President Donald Trump has announced the revocation of former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, effectively terminating his access to classified information and intelligence briefings.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump declared, “There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Joe, you’re fired.”

The unexpected move has sparked significant attention, marking a rare and provocative decision in American political history. Traditionally, former presidents are granted intelligence briefings as a courtesy to maintain continuity and share insights when required.

Trump justified his decision by claiming he was merely following Biden’s precedent.

“Biden set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community to stop the 45th President of the United States — me — from accessing details on national security, a courtesy provided to former presidents,” Trump wrote.

He further argued that Biden “could not be trusted with sensitive information,” alluding to a Justice Department inquiry that described Biden’s memory as poor.

Biden, who stepped down from office last month, has yet to issue a formal response.

The decision harks back to a 2021 incident when Biden, shortly after assuming office, questioned Trump’s suitability for intelligence briefings.

In an interview with CBS at the time, Biden said, “What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”

Biden cited concerns over Trump’s “erratic behaviour” as grounds for denying him access to classified information.

While the move against Biden remains controversial, it underscores the deepening political tensions between the two leaders. Trump’s supporters have hailed the decision as a necessary security measure, while critics have lambasted it as a vindictive act.

Political analysts suggest that the development may set a contentious tone for the upcoming electoral season, with Biden’s silence adding to the speculation.

As it stands, this dramatic decision has prompted debates on the necessity, fairness, and future implications of intelligence access for former officeholders.
